More quality carnage from the bottomless
Swedeath
well
Ah, Swedish death metal. When it’s good, it’s very, very good, and when it’s bad… well, it’s so rarely bad that completing that adage presents something of a challenge. Stockholm’s Lik locate themselves at the Maiden-esque end of the Swedeath spectrum - complete with triumphant leads and galloping tempos - but their riffs are so substantial and infectious that even those for whom melody is anathema may find much to love on the band’s third album. The humour that categorised previous releases has been toned down in favour of a more mature approach, but fortunately (or unfortunately depending on your tolerance for waggishness) Lik still find time for a wry nod at Morbid Angel with Female Fatal To The Flesh. Lads, eh?
