WITH THE FUTURE of gigs still up in the air, the livestream has seen a resurgence, ranging from lavishly shot, cinematic concert films to phone camera broadcasts. It’s impossible to fully replicate that visceral first-hand experience of course, but Canadian doom/sludge duo Vile Creature’s elaborate effort comes closer than most. Rather than simply jamming out in front of a webcam, the pair have constructed a ‘choose your own adventure’ book, in an ambitious and entirely charming attempt to bring you the complete vicarious gig experience. During a text prologue, you’ll face such difficult decisions as choosing which shirt to wear, attempting a carpool with your mates or going it alone on your bike, or even whether to bail on the gig entirely and get distracted by a surreal haunted house side-quest.
