The offcial naming ceremony and service of dedication for the new Shannon-class lifeboat at Leverburgh RNLI will be held this Saturday, July 14.
The vessel, named RNLB Stella and Humfrey Berkeley, will be formally handed over to the station on the isle of Harris by a representative of the Berkeley family, who are the main donors for the boat. A number of guests will be there on the day but the public are also invited – locals and visitors. The ceremony starts at 1pm but we would advise people to arrive early as parking close to the pier will be limited.
The naming ceremony also coincides with Shannon Week, which is being held this week to mark five years since the first Shannon-class lifeboat entered the RNLI fleet.
