Clachnaccudin have announced the signing of Fort William FC captain Iain Foggo who leaves his local club after almost a decade of first team service. Having notched up 270 matches in nine seasons since his senior debut in 2009, the 25-year-old defender is said he is ‘up for the challenge’ after signing a new deal with the Inverness-based Highland League club. Foggo, who has been part of the Fort William youth setup since he was 11, said it felt a bit strange going in to pre-season knowing he won’t be playing at Claggan Park this year. ‘It’s a club that means a lot to me and I’ve made a lot of good friends over the years I’ve been involved there,’ he said. ‘When Clach approached me I needed a bit of time to think about it. But after speaking to assistant Ally Ewan and manager Iain Polworth I thought this was an opportunity I had to take as I might not get the chance to try something like this again. It’s going to be hard to break into the team but I’m up for the challenge and hopefully I can enjoy the experience.’ The announcement comes during a busy transfer period for the Fort which has seen the new committee secure the services of five players in the last two weeks as they look to bolster their squad before the start of the 2018/19 season. ‘As for the Fort, I know there’s a lot of hard work.
