Groups and organisations needing money for activities to improve health and prevent problems before they arise are being encouraged to apply to the local health and wellbeing network.
There are eight networks in Argyll and Bute which give organisations with a remit for health improvement the chance to work together to plan joint activities. Local co-ordinator Eleanor Mackinnon said: ‘Over the past six years, we have funded 78 projects.
‘Funding requests vary from £200 to £2,000, supporting activities from new walking groups, children’s activities, old people groups to a request to fund a compost toilet at Lorn Growers at Taynuilt.’ Alison McGrory, health improvement principal from the Argyll and Bute Health and Social Care Partnership (HSCP), said: ‘Health and wellbeing networks are essential in helping us to get as many organisations as possible interested in improving the health of our population.
