A glimpse of the problem at the Fairy Pools, which Kate Forbes has said could be eased by Airbnb hosts issuing guidance to tourists.
Guidance on driving on single track roads, litter disposal and respect for the natural environment should be handed out by Airbnb hosts when welcoming guests to Lochaber and across the Highlands.
That is the opinion of Kate Forbes MSP who feels more can be done by visitors to help ease the strain on the area’s top tourist spots amid another bumper season. Ms Forbes believes such a move could be one of several measures to encourage responsible and sustainable tourism in popular rural areas in her constituency, particularly at hot spots such as the Morar Sands, Glenfinnan and the Fairy Pools on Skye. Lochaber Chamber of Commerce echoed the Highland politician’s calls for ‘responsible tourism’ and said it is ‘very aware’ of the pressures that come with the tourist season and any guidance issued to visitors should be welcomed.
