Police in Lochaber are appealing for information following a serious sexual assault in Fort William. The incident happened between 1am and 1.30am on Sunday June 17 in the High Street area of the town, close to Middle Street. The incident was reported to Police Scotland on June 28. Extensive inquiries have been ongoing since and offcers are now appealing for information which could assist the investigation. In particular, offcers are keen to speak to a man described as being around 20 years old, about 5ff10in to 6fitall, medium to well-built with a round face and blond/light brown hair cut short at the sides with a side parting. On the night he was wearing a white T-shirt, open khaki jacket or long-sleeved shirt, black jeans and affchunky black watch. He is believed to have been in the company of three other men. He spoke with a Glaswegian accent and spoke of being a college student in Glasgow. Detective Inspector Donald Macdonald said: ‘While the victim in this case was physically uninjured, she has obviously been left very shaken and she is receiving support from specialist offcers.
‘I appreciate it is now several weeks since this incident and I would like to reassure people that extensive police inquires have been ongoing to resolve this case, including thorough checks of CCTV footage. ‘We are now appealing to the public for help and would ask anyone who was on the High Street or in licensed premises in the area on the evening of Saturday June 16 into the early hours of Sunday June 17 to get in touch.
