If you’ve been running for at least a few months or so, you’ve probably worked out already that there are as many injuries as there are runners. It’s almost impossible to guarantee you stay running injury free but at least with some issues, including shin splints, you can take action to get yourself back out and running.
“Shin splints is still one of the most common injuries sustained by both recreational and experienced runners,” explains Anna Kosciuk, a sport scientist for NURVV (nurvv.com/uk).
“It refers to the pain along the shin bone (tibia), which is located in the front of the lower leg. With this injury, runners often experience pain that gradually builds up as they cover more mileage.”
