Young people and volunteers from Oban’s HOPE project have been on the litter trail. Volunteers from HOPE had a change of routine last week when they swapped their usual Wednesday beach clean for a sweep of the road leading from the new Oban High School to Tesco and Lidl car parks.
Younger members of the group who joined them were helping out as part of the youth service’s GIVE project, where they get rewards of trips out or activities in the holidays in return for giving up time to their community. Clean-up organiser Tam Ferris said: ‘We’ve been glad of the extra helping hands. They’ve been on three beach cleans with us. We thought a trail through the town would make a change for us and a difference.’
