John F MacDonald won his sixth Scottish Olympic Trap title at the weekend.
Moidart marksman John F MacDonald regained his national Olympic Trap title last week after shooting a record-breaking score at the Scottish championships. A large entry of Scotland’s elite Olympic Trap shooters converged at Glenmoriston Shooting Ground for two days of competition in the Scottish National Olympic Trap Championships on Saturday July 28. MacDonald shot 99 targets from 100, which not only meant he defended the title he won last year but set a new Scottish record for Olympic trap shooting. Conditions on the whole were good, however there times when shooters had the misfortune of getting caught out in the odd downpour, causing their glasses to steam up.
After 100 targets on day one, it was tight at the top, with only five targets separating the top eight shooters on the leaderboard.
