Angus Robertson marks the beginning of the Morvern Sailing Club Regatta.
After seven days jam-packed with games, sports, gardening and entertainment, Morvern Gala Week drew to a close last week. Events opened with Morvern Highland Games on Saturday July 14 and continued until Sunday July 22 and the organising committee has been enjoying a quiet week after another stellar week of fun. Gala Week committee chairwoman Riona Whyte has given her own account of probably the busiest week of the year for Morvern residents. She said: ‘On Sunday July 15, the Highland Open Water Swim group organised a swim across Loch Aline from the net station at the pontoons with around 30 swimmers braving the cool water before Morvern Gun Club held its annual gala week shoot at Uladail.
‘A nature walk around the village with Alasdair Firth was first on the agenda for Monday and in the afternoon, Lochaline Village Hall was the venue for the indoor bowls. Eadie Kennedy won the junior trophy and in the evening, regular visitors Steven and Niall won the senior pairs, beating their mothers in the final.
