SIR – There are few reliable indicators of the end of civilisation as we know it, but the loss of the broadcasting rights of the Oxford and Cambridge Boat Race by the BBC surely ranks as one of them.
I was appalled to discover that this veritable celebration of traditional British sporting achievement has gone to the other side, by which I do not mean Middlesex or Surrey, but to the home of “Naked Attraction” and “The Man with the 10-Stone Testicles” (which my Lady wife has had the misfortune of watching to the end, under the mistaken impression that Bake-Off was following soon).
