MUSEUM BALLS
A GLITZY new British Museum Ball sees the national museum team up for a glamorous fundraiser with Reliance Industries, a vast Indian conglomerate with strong links to, er, the sanctioned regime of Vladimir Putin’s Russia.
The museum’s first such ball, on 18 October, starts with champagne in the main hall and charges £2,000 per ticket. Organisers may wish to emulate the celebrity-studded Met Gala, though access to the fundraiser for Manhattan’s Metropolitan Museum of Art reportedly costs $75,000 a pop.
