PALESTINE ACTION
Quick march
WHETHER or not Donald Trump has secured peace for our time and all time in the Middle East, the Palestine Action issue remains a thorn in the Starmer government’s side.
Protests continued in the capital over the weekend, even as the US president’s peace plan was being finalised, with more banner-carrying supporters arrested for supporting a proscribed terror group, putting the largely peaceful campaigners on the same legal footing as the military wings of Hezbollah and Hamas and fellow newcomers to the list, the white separatist Maniacs Murder Cult.
This time, arrests came in a trickle compared to the flood detained at the Defend Our Juries (DOJ) protests which went ahead the previous weekend in the wake of the deadly Manchester synagogue attack, despite the Met and the PM appealing for a respectful pause and to allow police to devote their resources to protecting Jewish communities.
