IT WAS revealed during this month’s Mental Health Awareness Week that pupils at both Portree and Plockton High Schools have secured a share of more than £15,000 allocated to help address mental health issues in their communities.
Mental health charities, including Mikeysline, Scottish Association of Mental Health and Spirit Advocacy, have benefited from youngsters securing grants through the Youth and Philanthropy Initiative (YPI) Scotland.
Mental health causes represent a quarter of YPI grants already awarded this academic year in the Highlands, the highest proportion in any of Scotland’s 32 local authority areas.
