DIGITAL EXAMINATION
THINGS are working out nicely for a company at the centre of the government’s first cronyism scandal last summer, Public Digital.
In July, then partner Emma Middleton became director-general of the Digital Centre Design project (“designing the scope, strategy and structure of the new digital centre of government”) in Peter Kyle’s Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, having been seconded to his office in opposition – a donation-in-kind worth more than £65,000. The government insisted all was above board, even though Middleton had been fast-tracked through her recruitment to “fill the role quickly and with the required specialist skills to meet government priorities”.
