ROAD RAGE

HAVING prioritised transport megaprojects in the south, Labour is gaslighting northerners about the extent of the economic benefits.
Government agency National Highways engaged Lord Blunkett as a “skills adviser” for the £10bn Lower Thames Crossing (LTC) last October, long before the government authorised building the UK’s longest road tunnel east of London in March. When Blunkett visited a training centre in Kent last autumn, he described the yet to be authorised LTC as “a major infrastructure project that will be crucial to the growth agenda, to the productivity agenda and ensuring people have got good jobs”. That looked rather like a Labour peer, in a role funded by the Labour government, lobbying the Labour government to splurge taxpayers’ money on the LTC.
