ICC WATCH
THE International Criminal Court (ICC) has
never looked more beleaguered.
In February, Donald Trump imposed sanctions on ICC staff after its judges said that, alongside Hamas military leader Mohammed Deif, there were reasonable grounds to suspect Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu and his foreign minister Yoav Gallant were responsible for alleged war crimes and crimes against humanity. Then, on 16 May, the ICC’s own chief prosecutor Karim Khan KC had to step aside while the UN investigates long-running allegations that he sexually abused a former aide. He denies the allegations.
