A PAIR of Birmingham RCW Sulzer Class 26s, for long stored in a shed at Boat of Garten on the Strathspey Railway (RM Jan. P71), have been secured for a further life in Scotland. Nos. 26002 (D5302) and 26025 (D5325), once described as ‘forgotten’, they had lain out of use for so long, were put up for sale, attracting a number of bids, from both sides of the border.
They have been acquired by a private buyer who made a good offer plus gave details of his future plans for them. This was accepted by shareholders of the owning Highland Diesel Locomotive Group. No. 26025 departed the Strathspey Railway for the new owner’s private site on September 7.
