THE World Scout Jamboree might have gone off the rails in South Korea this August (due to excessive heat and torrential downpours), but RM readers may be entertained by the gathering’s own rails.
About 30 metres of line enabled landscapers to position shrubs around Jamboree headquarters. In the tradition of crude contractors’ track, steel tube was welded to tubular sleepers. Flat trucks had pulley wheels, and traction was human – but in the prevailing heatwave, the motive power saved much perspiration!
