EBay bans ‘shop bots’ that make automatic purchases
EBay is banning customers from using AI ‘shop bots’ that make automatic purchases for them.
It has changed its user agreement to ban “buy-for-me agents, LLM-driven bots, or any end-to-end flow that attempts to place orders without human review” (www.snipca.com/57790). Adding this definition to the user agreement makes it easier for eBay to take legal action against companies that make shop bots.
