TIP OF THE FORTNIGHT
Check price history using Amazon Rufus
I’ve been sceptical about the benefits of AI, and think tech companies just use the term to describe anything that’s new – a bit like how ‘smart’ is overused. But I’ve been converted by Amazon’s AI tool Rufus and its ability to track prices.
To use it, look for the ‘Price history’ link ( 1 in our screenshot) on a product page online. Click this and a panel opens on the left with a chart showing how the price has fluctuated recently 2 . You can choose 30 or 90 days.
As an example, I was interested in buying the TerraMaster F2-425 NAS, which you reviewed in Issue 727 (page 25). You listed the price as £249, but when I checked (www. snipca.com/57435) it had fallen to £220.
Rufus told me this was “lower than the average Featured Offer price on Amazon in the past 30 days” 3, so I grabbed it there and then.

Buy Ikea’s new wireless charging stand
I’ve never seen Computeractive review any Ikea products, but they now sell a decent range of cheap but reliable smart-home gadgets. I recently bought the new Västmärke wireless charging stand (£9 from www.snipca. com/57745, pictured left). It’s made of cork, and looks rather tidy on my desk. It charges my Google Pixel 10 phone fairly quickly and I love that I no longer have to step over trailing cables.
