WHILE fears over the impact of AI-generated content on the economics of the creative industries continue to exercise artists of all stripes, data from YouTube shows that, in the real world, people couldn’t care less whether their entertainments are Machine-made.
Data gathered by journalist Ryan Broderick shows that four of the 10 fastest-growing YouTube channels on the planet feature nothing but AI-generated content, from computer-created songs to moronic, nonsensical cartoons – suggesting that the main threat to artists is our indifference to the quality or provenance of the slop we distract ourselves with.
