BOLLOM’S UP
PUBLIC criticism of Israel’s Gaza campaign may be growing, but that hasn’t stopped another member of Britain’s former top brass joining Elbit, the Israeli arms firm central to its military machine.
Air marshal Sir Simon Bollom, who becomes a director at Elbit Systems UK, was in the RAF before becoming chief executive from 2018 to 2022 at Defence Equipment & Support, the purchasing arm of the Ministry of Defence, which buys military kit for the British armed forces from firms that include Elbit. Bollom is the firm’s second board-level hire from senior UK ex-military: in 2022 it recruited Sir Mark Poffley, a lieutenant general who was deputy chief of defence staff (military capability) at the MoD until 2018 (Eye 1624).
