UNION vs. JACK
JOURNALISTS across what remains of Fleet Street are trembling in fear from a campaign of terror by Jack “the Ripper” Lefley, who has been conducting a ruthless purge of the nation’s hacks.
Last year Lefley was managing editor of the Evening Standard, where he took the lead in culling more than half of the title’s staff and oversaw the end of the daily newspaper (Eyes passim). In January he became editor-in-chief of the Press Association, where staff felt encouraged by an interview where he stated his “main ambition” was for their “award-winning journalism… to reach an ever-growing audience”.
