Sum mishtake?
WHAT price could possibly be put on a lifer’s last hope for vindication – and freedom? Well, £5,493.82, according to the Ministry of Justice.
Last week the MoJ’s lawyers told a court it believed the sum it has paid to prisoner Lynton Fletcher (pictured) after losing his painstakingly prepared appeal documents was “sufficient compensation” for the loss he had suffered. It has, meanwhile, spent at least £35,000 fighting the case.
