FISH FARMING
Crest of a wave
KING CHARLES’s list of new royal warrants, announced at the end of the year, included some uncontroversial choices from John Lewis to Ryvita biscuits – but another company selected raised a possible conflict of interest for the monarch.
Charles awarded warrants to 386 companies that had previously held them for his late mother, including Mowi Scotland. The world’s largest fish farmer was granted a royal warrant for “the supply of fresh salmon to His Majesty the King”. Norwegian-owned Mowi said it was “honoured” by this confirmation of its special status. Ben Hadfield, COO of Mowi Scotland, said the royal crest on its boxes of salmon “is recognised and held in high regard globally and lends even greater provenance to the Mowi story”.
