’s increasingly rabid editorial line has obliged it to go along with its new hero Elon Musk’s belief that Asian grooming gangs are a newly discovered phenomenon and ignore its own often admirable past reporting on the scandals.
While stories such as “Child-sex grooming ‘not investigated because of political correctness’” date back to June 2011 – that one carrying the byline of the paper’s current deputy editor Robert Winnett – they go undetected by searches of the Telegraph website, where the earliest entry in a section headed “Grooming Gangs Scandal” is from 2 January 2025.
