THE Green administration running Bristol claims the city faces bankruptcy unless it saves £52m over the next five years. So it’s fortunate that the council has developed a terrific way of raising money – by punishing unwary motorists. Very green!
Since January 2024 cars have been banned from a section of Cumberland Road, a busy street on the city’s harbourside. In its first 11 months, the new “bus gate” caught more than 60,000 drivers.
