Officers had to use handcufts and leg restraints to take a man into custody, when called to a report of domestic violence at an address in Oban.
Once he was in the cells, Alan Duncan, 27, of 7 Lochnell Road, Dunbeg, smashed the light and held a plastic shard from its casing against his own throat, threatening to harm himself, Sheriff John Herald was told at Oban Sheriff Court last week.
Duncan pleaded not guilty to nine offences arising from the incident in the ground- floor flat in Oban on June 28. He was found guilty of seven: assaulting his partner by seizing hold of her neck and shaking her; shouting and swearing at her; repeatedly behaving aggressively towards police officers; uttering abusive, homophobic and other remarks related to disability; resisting, obstructing and hindering police in the execution of their duty by lashing out with his arms and legs, and assaulting an officer.
