The Dìleab concert, hosted by The Nicolson Institute in Stornoway, and the Department of Education, Sport and Children’s Services, will take place at 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday December 14) at Ionad Spòrs Leòdhais. This is the culmination of the project, which schools across the Western Isles have been engaged in during 2018.
Pupils from The Nicolson Institute and a host of local musicians will mark the centenary of the Iolaire tragedy through music, drama, dance and song. A 15-strong group of singers, musicians and dancers will travel from Castlebay Community School to attend and they will be joined by Sgoil Lionacleit Pipe Band and a choir from Sir E Scott.
The public are advised to make use of the parking across from the comhairle at Sandwick Road and The Nicolson Institute car park off Smith Avenue. Anybody with mobility issues should seek out one of the Police Scotland representatives who will be guiding the parking arrangements on the night. Stewards will also be in attendance.
