Croff ers’ right to propose alternative uses for common grazings was on the agenda at the comhairle last week and a more detailed report will come before councillors next year following pressure from SNP councillors.
Councillor Calum Macmillan, South Uist and Barra, put forward an amendment to a report before the Sustainable Development Committee last week which sought further information relating to Section 50B of the Croff ers (Scotland) Act 1993 as amended.
Councillors had asked for an overview of the legislation to be provided to the committee and Councillor Macmillan asked that a further report come back to the next series with specific detail. His amendment, seconded by Councillor Gordon Murray, Stornoway North, was accepted without discussion.
