Oban Otters held their annual gala recently and saw many impressive performances and club history being made. In the Performance Boys’ category, on a meteoric rise, 11-year-old Kai MacKechnie broke an astounding three long-standing club records.
He is pictured below with the Bank of Scotland Trophy after smashing the following records: 50m Butterfly – club record held by Lorn MacLuckie since 1989 – Kai knocked it down by an impressive two secs finishing in 39.2 seconds. 50m Breast Stroke – club record held by Cameron MacLean since 1979 – Kai shaved a whisker off this completing in 44.57 seconds 50m Freestyle – club record held by Alasdair Aitken since 2006 – Kai pounded an astonishing three seconds off this to finish in a time of 33.27 seconds.
