Kilmallie Community Coun cil (KCC) has welcomed plans to install a ‘much-needed’ pedestrian crossing at Corpach. Following a public meeting in August, it was agreed that the location of the pedestrian crossing should be situated next to the Co-operative store on the A830. Transport Scotland will begin to construct a puffn crossing in the new year. The work is expected to last up to five weeks.
Russell Leaper, secretary of Kilmallie Community Council, said: ‘After two public consultation events, it was acknowledged that the proposed design was the best compromise between providing a controlled crossing for those who really need it to allow them to cross the road with confidence and the loss of parking spaces.’
Provision of the crossing will result in the loss of 13 parking spaces across both sides of the main street to ensure adequate sight lines can be achieved. There will still be three parking spaces retained on the north side of the road and six parking spaces retained on the south side.
