Argyll and Bute MSP Michael Russell has highlighted the millions being spent on mitigating welfare cuts by the Scottish Government. Mr Russell said new figures revealed that a total of £681,981 was paid to people in Argyll and Bute under the Discretionary Housing Payment scheme.
He added: ‘A massive £585, 599 was spent solely on mitigating the Tories’ hated bedroom tax in Argyll and Bute during the period April 1 to September 30, 2018.’ Between April and September, councils in Scotland made a total 100,635 awards under the DHP scheme.
