On a cold though beautiful Sunday in Oban, Rockfield Primary School shinty players, alongside their brothers, sisters, friends, mums, dads, aunts, uncles, and yes, granny too, played a fun tournament to bring their 2018 season to a positive and happy ending, writes Carol MacIntyre. There was a great mixture of ages in each of the teams, from the ripe age of five to…well, let’s say to a few decades of 21st birthday celebrations!
The games were played for seven minutes and it was end-to-end excitment, supporters from the sidelines, while nursing the refreshments on offer, were eager to support the players and watch Rockfield display such fabulous vigour and skill on the grass dance floor at Mossfield Park, under the winter sunshine.
The finale game involved all players from all teams, in a match very closely contested of adults vs children, which ended in a 2-2 draw.
